LONDON: Mesut Ozil insists only he can decide if he will leave Arsenal after the German star continues to be denied the opportunity to act by Mikel Arteta.
The 31-year-old receives a salary of 350,000 pounds a week (RM1.9 million) but has not made the equivalent of his salary since joining the Gunners in 2013.
Dreaming of a chance to grab a place next season, Ozil said ‘I’m ahead of a difficult second at the moment but I love Arsenal. I will decide if I should go, not someone else. ‘
“I will give my all for this squad. This situation does not weaken me on the contrary strengthens me.
“I have proven in the past that I can return to the squad and I will show you one more time.
His relationship with previous controllers Unai Emery has not been very good but he has been involved in 10 English Premier League (EPL) matches since Arteta took control in December.
However, he has not featured in 13 games after this with Arteta claiming he is the ’cause of the football’.
Ozil continues to believe he deserves one more chance and says ‘you don’t have 10 games in a row only if you are not energetic enough, not good enough or the attitude not so good.’
